Action Group on Governance and Environmental Management (AGGEM), is legally registered not-for-profit Association under the Cameroon Law with Reference Number 71/E.29/Vol.8/APPB. It was founded in 2009 and officially legalised in 2011. The founding members are a multidisciplinary team self-motivated group of youths dedicated to influencing policies aimed at safeguarding the environment and promoting sustainable community development in Cameroon. The vision of AGGEM was was developed following Cameroon’s socio-demographic landscape that witnessed an explosion of its population with an increase in the number of dependent, unemployed and under employed people, especially young people despite our rich natural resources potential. 

 

AGGEM seeks to take advantage of this growing young and skilled manpower as driving force for its development through promoting of self-help, community driven interventions for wealth creation, youth leadership and entrepreneurship.

Brief Profiles of staff

 

Eric Ngang N. M. - Founder/Team Energy Officer

Eric has rich experience in the non-profit sector in Cameroon and successfully progressed from classroom training to on-the-job training and to full professional practice. He has focused on the betterment of his Cameroonian society by working and promoting democratic, dynamic, and relevant community groups. Specifically, he has built practical cooperation and interaction between civil society organisations and state institutions at local and national levels in Cameroon. He has contributed significantly to the body of knowledge on sustainable development through conference presentations and publications on themes including capacity development for organizations in the global south, contemporary thinking on humanitarian aid, sustainability, energy, and governance. 

He received a BSc. in Environmental Science from the University of Buea Cameroon in 2003. In 2011, he received an Australian Award Scholarship and completed the Master of Environmental Management and Sustainability at the University of South Australia. In 2018, he won the Global Challenges Scholarship and completed a Ph.D. in Environmental Law t the Birmingham Law School in the United Kingdom.

 

He is a member of many professional and academic bodies, including; a Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM® 1584328) of the Project Management Institute – the USA, the Golden Key International Honour Society (10056123), and a member of the International Society of Sustainability Professional (ISSP), British Ecological Society (BES) and aa National Geographic Explorer.

 

As Chief Energy Officer of AGGEM, Eric is keen on bringing the needed energy into the AGGEM team and keeping up the energy levels to ensure the organization’s objectives are achieved. 

 

Ngufor Desmond - Management Coordinator

Desmond holds a B.A. in Geography from the University of Buea and is interested in working together with youths in the community towards a better tomorrow. He has a passion for environmental protection and has worked with communities in coastal areas in Cameroon for over three years through multidisciplinary research on the impacts of rapid population and economic growth on Cameroon. Through Voluntary work, he has been enabled me to learn with people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. Thus, he can develop and promote effective teamwork and communication and media tools to ensure effective coordination of organisational processes. He is currently an active member of Junior Chambers International, Cameroon.

 

Mbaku Isen Bihnanga- Finance and Administration

Isen believes in empowering people to be actively engaged in the stewardship of our environmental natural resources. She has been working with community groups and school communities to facilitate a multi-faceted approach while synergising Government and non-Government programs that integrate sustainable practices. She is an experienced curriculum developer and delivery and has built a prosperous career after several years of lectureship at the Advanced School of Public Works, Annex Buea Cameroon. She has provided consultancy services to the Cameroon Government Ministry of Public works and Environment. She holds a BSc. In Environmental Science from the University of Buea and is currently enrolled in the professional Master Program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management at the same University. 

 

Bongkinyuy Nancy - Nutrition and WASH Officer

 Nancy has a particular interest in environmental health to improve health and community wellbeing. Her work is focused on poor local communities, and she has had many years of working with these communities. Following professional training on nutrition and Water Sanitation and Health (WASH), she served as a community nutrition educator in her community empowered over 17 local NGOs on WASH and Nutrition activities to prevent disease and COVID-19. She has equally held voluntary positions, including with HospiMobil and as a nurse /nutritionist at an orphanage in Bamenda.  Nancy is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public health at the University of Buea in Cameroon and equally serves as Nutrition and WASH Officer at AGGEM.

 

TCHEUTCHOUA Romuald Christial -  Field Operations Officer

 

Romuald is a Biologist with cutting-edge experience in nature conservation, ecological and agricultural economics, natural resources management, entomology, wasps research, environmental assessment, and management. He equally has developed knowledge and expertise in environment restoration, fauna and flora inventories, mapping ecosystem habitats for biodiversity conservation, forestry/agroforestry, tree domestication, sustainable agriculture, sustainable energy (bioenergy).  Over the years, he has led data collection and statistical analysis and can carry out economic and ecological modeling. He equally has basic skills in lab samples analysis (water samples and chromatography), biosecurity, and basic knowledge in cartography/mapping. Romuald has excellent management and teamwork skills. He holds a Master’s degree in environmental health and sustainability.
